I calciatori del Tottenham ed il 45 giri Ossie’s dream
I ragazzi di White Hart Lane registrarono il pezzo insieme al duo Chas and Dave, per i propri tifosi e per festeggiare la vittoria della FA Cup del 1981.

Non è il primo ne l’ultimo caso di giocatori che si mettono a cantare, basti pensare alla nostra rubrica Calciatori musicisti, ma questa canzone non è il solito brano di beneficenza, è un inno celebrativo!
Il titolo “Ossie’s dream” si rifà ad Ossie Ardiles, Osvaldo César Ardiles, giocatore argentino del Tottenham, squadra nella quale ha militato 10 anni, dal ’78 all’88; ora è un allenatore che ha cambiato moltissime squadre in giro per il mondo. Nel suo palmares 1 coppa Uefa, 2 Coppe d’Inghilterra, 1 Charuty ed 1 campionato del mondo con l’Argentina.
Footballer a 45 giri, sapete che la Fa Cup è la competizione calcistica più antica del mondo? Beh, quella di cui vi stiamo parlando, quella del 1980-1981, è stata la 100° edizione.
La coppa è stata conquistata dal Tottenham Hotspur a seguito di questo percorso:
Tottenham 3 – 1 Coventry City
Tottenham 2 – 0 Exeter City
Tottenham 2 – 2 Wolverhampton d.t.s. 3 – 0.
La finale ha visto, il 14 Maggio 1981 allo stadio di Wembley, i londinesi avversi al Man City. Ripercorriamone i momenti salienti:
Tommy Hutchison ha aperto le marcature per il City e gli Spurs (altro nome del Tottenham) hanno pareggiato grazie ad un autogoal proprio dello stesso Tommy Hutchison; il match termina 1-1 e le regole della federazione inglese prevedono la ripetizione dell’ incontro.
Nel replay, sempre giocato a Webley (è stato il primo replay in finale in questo stadio), il Tottenham ha vinto 3-2, con 2 gol di Ricky Villa e Garth Crooks, mentre Steve Reeves e Kevin MacKenzie ha segnato per il City.
E’ stata la 6° volta che i ragazzi di White Hart Lane hanno vinto il trofeo e, nel vincere, hanno mantenuto la loro imbattibilità nella fase finale della FA Cup.
