Un 45 giri dei calciatori inglesi, This Time, We’ll Get It Right
This Time, We’ll Get It Right è il titolo di un 45 giri che ha come cantanti i calciatori della nazionale dell’Inghilterra per i mondiali di Spagna 1982.
La nazionale di calcio inglese è stata assente, per mancata qualificazione, ai mondiali di calcio del ’74 e del ’78, tornando sul palcoscenico mondiale dopo 12 e con la solita albionica convinzione spocchiosa di essere i migliori e di trionfare.
Per crederci davvero e convincere anche tifosi e giornalisti di casa servono nuovi campioni, nuovo look e soprattutto un nuovo inno di battaglia!
E sono proprio i calciatori della squadra nazionale britannica a cantare This Time, We’ll Get It Right.
La canzone ha raggiunto il numero 2 in classifica e l’Inghilterra ha raggiunto la seconda fase del gruppo al mondiale di calcio 1982; poi Ron Greenwood ed i suoi uomini sono stati eliminati per differenza reti dalla West Germany (che tempi, la Germania era ancora divisa tra est ed ovest!).
Se This Time, We’ll Get It Right è ancora adorato dalla maggior parte dei ragazzi inglesi nati nel 1970 per la musica e anche per le sue parole, il lato b del disco (o ‘Secondo tempo’) porta con sé suoni sintetizzati terribilmente e una melodia che suona come se dovesse appartenere a un annuncio per British Airways.
