Uno dei fondatori della band dichiarò: “Il Manchester United è uno dei team più famosi e seguiti del mondo. Questa canzone non è stata incisa per noi, ma per loro e tutti i loro fans”.
Il 45 giri è stato pubblicato il 12 Aprile 1994 dall’etichetta Polygram.
Va specificato però che non si tratta di un inedito musicale poichè la melodia e le note sono le stesse di una canzone precedente della band, Burning Bridges del 1988.
Gli Status Quo sono una band inglese nata nel 1962, come gruppo freakbeat, e che ha avuto i maggiori successi negli anni’70. Devono il loro successo all’amore dei britannici che li hanno eletti a monumento nazionale musicale, un po’ come i nostri Pooh? All’estero il loro rock non è molto famoso nonostante una discografia enorme, basti pensare che la band è ancora attiva dopo 60 anni!
